Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Loudoun Field Center is an opportunity to introduce a variety of different sciences and scientific fields through a study of the stars and planets. We’ll learn a little about the history of the field from a “Classical” point of view, while also learning basic physics and chemistry ideas through the “Four Forces.”

Class Goals (Fall, Winter, Spring):
Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Loudoun Field Center is an opportunity to introduce a variety of different sciences and scientific fields through a study of the stars and planets. We’ll learn a little about the history of the field from a “Classical” point of view, while also learning basic physics and chemistry ideas through the “Four Forces.”

For the Fall (and into Winter):
- Creation and the Big Bang+ (Star Formation (“Stellar Evolution”), Element Creation)
- Dynamics (motion and the four forces — gravity, nuclear forces, E&M)
- The Atomic Model and The Periodic Table
- History of Astronomy (Key Astronomers and the Scientific Revolution — Copernicus, Galileo, Brahe, Kepler, Newton)
The Fall Program is 10 Weeks, beginning on Thursday September 15, and ending on Thursday November 17. From 11:00am to 12:15pm. Ages 10-16 (~Grades 5 to 10).
